Car Accidents

Boston Car Accident Lawyers

If you or your family member has been injured in a car accident, you should not settle for less than full and fair compensation. The insurance companies hope that you will — which is why they often want you to sign off on a settlement as quickly as possible. At the Boston car accident law firm of Swartz & Lynch LLP, we keep clients from succumbing to common insurance industry tactics. Our auto injury attorneys take the time to gather all the facts in your case to arrive at a compensation amount that takes into account your current costs, future expenses, and pain and suffering.

According to the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, there are more than 4,000 serious injuries caused by car accidents in Massachusetts in an average year. The good news is that across Massachusetts and Boston, car-crash related severe injuries declined steadily from 2006 to 2008, as did fatalities. The bad news, unfortunately, is that car accidents continue to be a leading cause of moderate to catastrophic personal injuries throughout New England and across the United States.

By doing the hard work necessary and believing in those we represent, we’ve succeeded in winning substantial damage awards for our clients in cases other firms wouldn’t touch.

What you should do if you are involved in a car accident

If you are involved in a car accident, especially if hit from the rear or a by a drunk driver, there are steps you should take to protect yourself, your rights and your chance to seek compensation.  First and foremost, if you or anybody else is injured, call 911 to get immediate medical assistance. Next:

  • Get the names, drivers licenses, insurance and contact information of all other drivers involved in the accident.
  • Note the location, date and time of the accident. Also take notes about any road or weather conditions that may have contributed to the accident, and how fast and in what direction you were going. Anything that you think might be pertinent could be important in building your case.
  • If there were witnesses, get their names, phone numbers and addresses.
  • Take pictures if possible.
  • Give your statement to the police and get their names, badge numbers and other information.

The same information should be collected if you were in an accident with a negligent driver, including accidents and crashes with delivery vans, buses and taxis.

Even if you think your injuries are minor, seek medical help at an emergency room or from your own physician. Many injuries, including soft-tissue damage, are not immediately evident but worsen over time and lead to chronic pain. Having a doctor’s report is also critical to building a successful personal injury case.

There is one other important step you should take: Call an experienced automobile accident lawyer. Do not let the insurance company talk you into a quick settlement. It’s important to know your rights and have an experienced and determined advocate on your side.

Client Testimonials

“Swartz & Lynch exemplified compassion and commitment when representing me after being hit by a motor vehicle. Their staff was welcoming and owners communicated well throughout the process. I made the right choice by calling them”

“I’ve dealt with one of Swartz & Lynch, LLP’s best associate, on two occasions, and he simply the best! The first occasion was back in December 2008, where he represented my entire family (my two daughters, mother, stepfather, sister, brother, and I) – in a fire case incident which almost cost us our lives. The case lasted about a year and the patience showed us what an AWESOME attorney he is; he cared for each one of us on a personal more than a business level. I can vouch that he is detail-oriented, patient and very ethical. The second time was in the year 2015, where my youngest daughter was hit by a bicycle on Mass Ave. I contacted several lawyers and none of them wanted to take the case. My last hope was to contact Swartz & Lunch and once again he has proven his expertise in a professional matter. I can assure you they will make it happen and I highly recommend Swartz & Lynch, LLP.”

“My elderly uncle was struck by a car and injured. Attorney Tim Lynch obtained a policy limits recovery of $100,000 from the driver’s insurance company without filing suit AND negotiated away most of the medical liens on the recovery. It was a fantastic result. The money will make a significant difference in paying for my uncle’s care.”
